hello Jin.

my tfsa has gone up in value by over 1000 dollars since the beginning of the year and metro has made me 100 dollars of that. I maxed out my contribution room at the beginning of the year. when I sell metro how much can i reinvest without going over my tfsa limit.

thanks chris

You can sell and buy as you want, as long as it's inside your tfsa (not going to another type of account). The TFSA contribution limit is unchanged when you make investments inside your TFSA account.

Unless you have unused TFSA contribution room, if you're withdrawing the money out of your tfsa account, you won't be able to reinvest until next year. The following year, your contribution room will be equals to:

amount of TFSA contribution limit for the year

+ amount of your last year withdrawal(s) (when money is withdrawn outside of your TFSA)

+ unused TFSA contribution room (not your case)
